I'm researching studio lighting for a home studio. I think I've decided to go with strobes and would like to purchase a kit if I can find one that is affordable. I'm just starting out so don't know what exactly to look for and don't have a large budget. I've just used a good portion of that budget to purchase my DSLR (D70s). I'm sure some of you can help me out . I was wondering:

1. What brands are known to be good in studio lighting? One that I found was Photon.

2. What should I look out for?

3. What is the minimum wattage needed to get good results in an in home studio for portraits of 1-5 people? Most will probably be 1-3 people.

4. Should different lights provide good results? I'm guessing that 2 lights should be good for 1-2 people?

Thanks for any help/advice you can offer. Any additional advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi A,

I like the travel light's by Calumet. I personaly use the three 750's. They have all sorts of kits available. White lightnings and their Alian Bees are also first rate. Go to these web sites to check them out.
