I have a couple of Alien Bees lights and I just got a light meter the other day. It can do wireless radio triggering, but for that I need a $50 chip to put in the meter and $350 pocketwizards, which I can't afford right now. On my camera, I use an IR light on the hotshoe to trigger the flash which makes it inconvienent to use a sync cord with the light meter since I have to unplug it to turn on the AB sync reciever. What I am looking for is a small IR device to plug into the PC sync hole in the light meter. Then when I trigger the metering, it will send an IR pulse and trigger the flashes. Does something like this exist?

That is the only thing I found, but it says it requires a Wein reciever. Is that true, or will it also trigger an IR reciever built into ABs? |
