Realistically speaking, you're only working with 1500 watts of light. That's not much - and you're cutting your output dramatically by using the softboxes.
If your primary interest involves shooting people, hot lights are only going to present problems in the long run. Can you use them? Sure. But hot lights are not the right tool for fast-paced "move-and-shoot" action.
As others have said - check out AlienBees. There are cheaper alternatives out there, but you won't be disappointed with the 'Bees. You can pick up two "Beginner Bee" kits (flash, cords, stands, umbrellas, reflectors) for less than $800.
