Hi, Was wondering if anyone knew an easy reason why my portaflash 336V flash head has stopped firing mid shoot? The modelling bulb is still working as is the red indicator light on top of the flash head, which is on. However the flash won't discharge either from the other flash head or by pressing the test button.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks, Chris

Well no replies but lots of views so thought I would answer my own question and hopefully help someone in the future. Bulb is knackered, very rare but does happen and is irrepairable as the unit is sealed so a new unit is needed - not the best news in the world!

I was going to suggest that maybe the flash tube was kaput.
Are you sure that you cannot get a replacement flash tube? If you really cannot get a replacement, make sure your next unit allows user replacement of the tube.

I use Aliens Bees and White Lightnings and I can still get tubes for units over 15 years old.
