Shoturtle, where are you seeing the Nissin for $259? Best I can find is $280.

Of course the new model is out, I've just bought two of the previous model! Are there many differences and benefits?

The only thing I can tell is the metal shoe...
-> A mix blessing really depending on how you view this - If you knock on something or drop the camera a plastic shoe would break (and replaceable), a metal shoe on the other hand will hold on a professional body, but probably will tear off the prism of a polycarbonate dSLR

Although I don't find the Mrk I to be noisy, the Mrk II is rated at 70dB...

If you are in no hurry, I would hold out for this one: http://www.nissindigital.com/2011/02...o-imaging.html
This device can flash 100 time continuously without burning up!
-> My SB-900 would thermally shut down way before this...

I'm very happy with the performance of my Nissin Di866 Mk1s and see no need to upgrade them for a long time to come, if ever. I just wondered what I've missed out on.

On overheating, most flash manufacturers, including Nissin, warn against taking more than 10 consecutive flash exposures without a 20 minute rest. I can only assume that this is only if they're at full power, though neither Nissin nor Canon say that. I have taken 30 flash exposures with one of my Di866s in 15 minutes with not the slightest suggestion of a problem. None was anywhere near full power though.
