Default connection

Hello, I would really appreciate if anybody could help me. I want to know, if connecting studio lamps to digital camera by using hot-shoe make any harm to the body? I saw some reviews that suggested that there might be a proble, but I need to know for sure.
Please answer, hermi

Just make sure that the voltage through the sync cable does not exceed that of your camera. Alien bees are under 6 volts which are great for my Canon Powershot G3. Canon states that the max sync voltage for the hot shoe is 6v.

If the lights and the camera are both fairly new, probably not. But just to be safe, a Wein SafeSync might be worthwhile.
