I am trying to get some monolights. I have looked at many different brands. When I called Adorama the salesman suggested the Fashpoints. I know Adorama really pushes this brand so I wanted to get a few more opinions.

That's their "house" brand...don't know who makes them. You didn't really say how many, how powerful, etc.

For comparisons with most any other brand, I would look very closly at Alien Bees: http://www.alienbees.com/packages.html

They have excellent customer service & a great upgrade deal if you decide you need more power later on.

I would like to get two lights but my budget is around $800 and I need to get a flash meter. So I will start with one light. I would rather get better quality than have more lights. The flash meter that I am planning to get is the KM VF. I am using a Canon 20D woth a 28-135 lens.
The Flashpoint that I was looking at was the 600ws version. I have looked at the Bees and I like them. However, I also looked at the White lightning 800 and that Photogenic 1250. Both of them have a 250w modeling lamp and that Photogenic has a GN of 364. I have been told thhat the brighter modeling lamp will help with filters and gels.

Thanks for the help! Any additional comments would be welcomed.
