I have had a studio in my home for a few years now, and one of my lights has broken. I want to buy a new one, but I am going to be buying the new Canon 20D, and I was wondering if I will need different lights or can I use the same on I already have and just purchase another one. I have the Britek HS-1500 right now, and was looking into the alien bees B400 light. Could someone give me some advice here?

Thank you, I appreciate it!

I think you will find the quality of the Alien Bees to be light years (pun intended) ahead of anything Britek makes! However, if you only want one light right now, I would recommend getting the B800. You can always dial the power down to 400 levels, but you can't make the 400 any more powerful than it already is.

Just a tip here...one thing that I have found that enhances the light more than anything else is to use your light with a LARGE light enhancer. I use a 60 inch Photogenic White convertable umbrella (but many people prefer big softboxes). A large light diffuser allows you to use one light source and cover a much larger area than a smaller one.

Thank you so much. This is very helpful to me. I will go ahead and get the alien bees B800. I do have a 32 inch white umbrella but I will get the 6090 inch one.

Thank you so much!
