Hello:

In using Fuji S7000 in macro mode it is necesssary to use manual focus. The zoom ring turns into a manual focus ring when set on manual focus.

Shooting diamonds is very difficult, you need pin point light sources to cause refraction, however they are correct that a light tent will help.

You will find that coninuous light would be easier than flash for this stuff. This is a good place to start:
