I am using a variety of off-camera flashes, in the past I've used them as fill lights, etc...they all trigger off the infrared pulse of my cameras
Problem is, with the F828, the flashes still go off, but I don't get any visible results in the picture. In fact, if I sheild the on camera flash so the remoste unit sees it (and flashes) but no light goes forward, the picture is completely dark.
QUESTION: How can I get the F828 to do what my other cameras did...that is (guessing here) NOT fire a pre-flash and simply fire the "important" one for the picture?
please email any ideas to [email protected]

I doubt you can disable the preflash.

Here are some examples of slave triggers that are designed to work with digital cameras that havea preflash (triggering on the second versus first flash).

P.S.

I did a bit of digging, and found one poster that indicates if you use the SonyHVL-32X in manual mode while attached to the DSC-F828 via a PC Sync Cord, it won't preflash.

I have no way to confirm the accuracy of the post. If true, you could use the HVL-32X to trigger the slaves instead of the camera's built in flash to eliminate the preflash.

Otherwise, you'll probably need to get slave triggers designed to trigger on the second flash from the camera.
