See as I did here, I put a plain background but then put my hand over the light and added shadow to the background, this will make your stationary objects appear more realistic and not just bland and plain.
It's still seems rather dark, rather than bright with too much shadow where there shouldn't be any...check out this method of photographing objects: http://www.pbase.com/otfchallenge/light_box
I agree with mike, a little to dark, also that reflection above the cord from the cd is a little distracting, but I like your set up of the equiptment, and the balance..
