An article I wrote on composition - Make Better Photos NOW! Part 1

I recently started a website for my portrait photography business. I decided that one good way to engage current and potential clients and keep my name in front of them would be to have an ongoing series of instructional blog posts for beginner photographers. I thought some of you here might be interested in it as well. Here is the first in the series and it is basically an introduction to using the Rule of Thirds for composing photos.

EDIT: UNFORTUNATELY I HAD TO DELETE THIS LINK BECAUSE OF SO MANY SPAM COMMENTS THAT SEEM TO COME FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE COMING THROUGH THIS FORUM

Let me know what you think.

Brad, I think it is a well-written article. The rule of thirds is something a lot of would be photographers don't really know about. Using a rule of thirds approach to most of your shots will certainly make them more interesting. I think it's the little things that separate a snapshooter from a photographer.

Photography is like a sport, in that, you have to know the basics before you can advance. Sadly, many people don't completely understand the basics. Then they buy a more expensive, more sophisticated camera and continue to get garbage results. Hopefully you can reach a few of those, and help them understand the basics.

Thanks for commenting, Robert. I'd love to be part of getting people out of gear-obsession and into making great photographs.
