For the most part.. since the moon is quite bright, you would have to set it for infinate focus and spot metering as tclune has already mentioned. Maximum zoom with a tripod, and depending on the quality of the tripod.. use self timer. The pic I posted has a little sharpening done as post processing, but not too much.
Just takes some practice, and for the detail, it is best when it is not a full moon, as no shadows are present on the moon itself. ![]() |

practice makes perfect, for sure.
my first tryouts with my fz30 tought me that it's useless trying moon shots without a tripod no matter the power of the image stabilization. |

Wow..... that is a very tity shot....... need to get and try this with my 300 5.6 and 2x telecon to see what I can get (nothing this good for sure, but will be fun!!!)
