I shoot a lot of sports, along with 5 other shooters in this very small town who use the exact same equipment I do. Every once in a while I drop something like a flash card, or a battery, I even dropped a flash once while I was digging through my bag. At basketball games, 3 of us use PocketWizards, Superclamps, and Sb-80dx's to light the court, at the end of the game, we always had a problem of telling whos flash was whos. The way we dealt with this was putting a little label with our name and phone number on everything.
Well, the other day I was surfing the Internet, and I found this BRIGHT fluorescent yellow gaffer's tape, so I ordered it and wrapped it around EVERYTHING I had. Now, you can spot my gear a mile away, and if I drop something, I can spot it right away in the grass. This stuff looks like its glowing, but it's not reflective. If you shoot sports with other shooters, this is a great idea. (I think.) Here are a couple pieces: Brad |

KCan, well, I would hope they would be smart enough to usedifferent colored tape.
![]() SteveKin, lol, the tape makes it easy to see in the grass... bradg wrote: Quote:

you can shoot with me anytime. i try to blend in and keep a lower profile and your lit up like a neon sign. that way they will keep their eyes on you and not me. my gear is ID'd but not quite so, soboldly.

After being robbed ofan X-700, a digital Elph, a Swiss Army Knife and a wallet on the subway in Mexico City in January,we now also try to blend in. Last month in Guadalajara (a vastly safer city), I had the new 7D attached to my body with stainless steel wire, and I kept trying to cover it with plastic bags when not shooting, to try to avoid looking like a rich gringo. No trouble, but I could tell when people noticed the fancy gear - made us a little uncomfortable. Probably the only real solution is to use P&S cams, if you can stand the optics. Or not go places where there are thieves!
