:?I am getting ready to sell a few prints. What is the best way to sign them and do people place a number on them if they plan to sell multiple copies? What is normally done?

Well,

I guess it depends on what type of sales. Numbered prints are usually reserved for gallery sales with the expectation that limited number prints will retain some value.

Unless you're doing gallery level work, I recommend AGAINST signing the front of any print - it's tacky. Until your accomplished and your name actually has some meaning I think signature on the front is more about your own ego. I sell sports photos. My photos are backprinted with my company name. People don't want their photo 'obscured' by my signature.

I also think the client deserves the right to a photo without my advertising on it. Again, a signature on art work is supposed to add value. And, unless your a top notch artist I think a signature detracts - it certainly doesn't add value to the customer. Again, just my opinion.
