I read in one of the latest camera magazines that a trick for custom white balance is to place you're ordinary coffee filter over the lens(via rubberband), and hold the camera up to the light source. The light will shine through the "white" coffee filter, and you will have a perfect color balance of the light source. It works awesome indoors. In practice, I have had most shots work better using this custom method over Auto white Balance, and better than Preset White Balance.
