I have a digital Rebel XT which I have been using for wakeboarding.

I want to take it snowboarding with my over Thanksgiving. I usually shoot wakeboarding in the TV mode, 1/1000, 100 ISO on bright days.

What settings should I try when I'm snowboarding???

I would use the same settings, although if you find your images overexposed, you may need to apply anywhere from 1/2 to 2 stops of exposure compensation.

If you haven't used exposure compensation before, check it out in your manual and play around a bit with it before you head out to the snow.

Another option, if it's sunny, is to use a polarizing filter or an ND (Neutral Density)filter.

I have found opening about two stops beyond what the meter shows is about right if the scene is mostly snow. Or meter on a grey card, though I have found metering on the palm of my hand and opening one stop is just about as good. And I haven't left myhand at home yet.

BillDrew,

That's awesome, using your hand as an improvised grey card (although your beard might work better! - just kidding).

Nice tractor there, looks like a bit of an antique. What year, model?
