I took a number of photos during a vacation but realized that there are quite a few of them are corrupted. The photo images show perfectly in the Window Explorer thumbnails view but not when I opened them. Is there anyway that I can correct them? Some of these photos I like it very much. I cannot attach my photo as a reference because of the size is too large. System complain! Please help!

ok hopefully you are ausing a pc with win xp.

Ok go into the folder wher the broken files are. go to the top and click "tools", "folder options" "view" then find optoion that says "hide known file extensions" and make sure ther is no click next to ths. once this is donw click ok.

down scroll down to your broken file and click ONCE on it then hit f2. This will prompt the rename function. Now see example below.

If file is originally
DSC_00123.jpg
Just delete the .jpg or what ever may appear at the end. so you end up with just the file name. NO EXTENSTION.
Now with the extension deleted rename the file to
e.g. DSC_00123.jpeg
so basically just delete any extensions to your broken files and replace em with jpeg. Now ur extensions may be some random exts or not.

i did this to a load of my images which had .jpg extensions which were actually correct extension but the same issue occurred. a friend recomended the following and it worked for about 80% of em. hope this works for you too

Many thanks for your tips Ken. I've tried your steps but it is still not working. I wish I can attach a file as an example but again the file size is just too large 1.4MB. Any other recommendations are welcome!

Many thanks,
AC
