Toshiba M Series

News release makes the M700 sound like just what I've been looking for - extended zoom, manual controls in a 3 megapixel package at reasonable price. Anybody seen info on the M Series, other than in the Breaking News section here? What's the general take on reliability and function of previous Toshiba digicams?

Purchased directly from Toshiba. Fantastic camera! Easy to use after a couple of times, takes great zoom pictures and auto exposure bracketing is cool too. I think it is the best camera under $500 right now.

Thanks, goliver. I haven't read otherwise, so I assume that the body is plastic? What size SD card do you have and how many photos can you fit in high-res mode? Do you have any sample pics posted online for viewing?

Anyone else tested one of these yet? Would greatly appreciate some thoughts on your experience with it. TIA.

M700

I just got mine yesterday 07-10 from toshiba. This is my first
digicam so I'm no expert. I did review quite a few cams and I have to admit price was a big factor. Your right about the M700 having
a lot for the money. Most of the Toshiba digicams got good reviews
so I took a chance, after all the M700 hasn't been reviewed by
anybody yet. The body is plastic but so is my 35mm nikon n6006.
The battery door is a bit flimsy but all else seems ok. You'll like
the 2.5in LCD. The camera is easy to use. I didn't find the menu
system hard to learn. It has an EVF with Diopter adjustment for
people with glasses like me. I also liked the lens adapter included
so I can use all my 52mm filters from my 35mm. It comes with a
16mb SD card and at the highest resolution Toshiba says you get
12 pics. I bought a 256mb lexar card so I should get 198 pics. I don't think I'm qualifyed to quote lag times and time between
shots but it seems pretty quick. The ACDsee software is easy.
Now I just need to learn how to post pics on the web! No stores
have the camera yet to see but I'm happy!! :D
