Default re: PDR-M4

Steve,
With the PDR-M4, that's a minor problem since the mode dial generally falls off and renders the camera useless anyway. I wish you well. The PDR-M4 was my first and LAST Toshiba camera.

Default power circuit short - fairly common

I had a camera which failed in exactly the same way, and I've seen one or two for sale on eBay also. Probably easy to fix by swapping components with another defective unit, but sercvice will certainly cost more than the camera is worth. Toshiba would swap you a replacement for $120, but you could buy a bare camera for $60 used.

My suggestion would be sell it on eBay. If you sell it with the battery and AC adapter you could probably get $50 or so.

If that's too much work, I'd pay $30. But I don't think there's any easy fix - at least I never found one.

Good luck!
