Default PDR M81 can't see Smart Media Card

Iaccidentally dropped my backpack containing my Toshiba PDR M81. Now, the digicam can't see the Smart Media Card that's loaded in it. The lcd always give the same message "NO CARD". I tried my other Smart Media Cards (64mb and 128mb), which I know are okay but, unfortunately, I still get the same "NO CARD" message. Help. Is there anything I can do?

I'm from the Philippines and my brother sent it here from Canada.

I would appreciate any assistance or advice you could give.

I don't know if you're going to see this but...

I've had a PDR-M81 for nearly three years now and it has been an excellent camera. I've easily taken more than 100,000 pictures and more than 300 have been published in various magazines.

Just recently, I've started having problems with the camera not recognizing my SmartMedia cards. I've always been able to clear this by repeatedly popping the card in and out several times.

I feel for you thogh... I think my camera is finally giving up the ghost and I'll have to get something new.

I have an e-bay PDR-M71 to replace my Mode Dial broke PDR-M60. The M71 recently started to show "NO CARD". I tried several Smart Media cards. No good.

I used a can of compressed air for computer cleaning to blow out the SM slot.

Jimney Crickets! IT WORKED!

The M71 now reads all my cards.

"The M71 now reads all my cards."

Enjoy it while you can. I truly hate to break it to you, but something else will probably go wrong soon. Toshiba digicams were such total pieces of crap that Toshiba was forced to exit the digicam business.

Now, now. It might be C***, but it's my C***.

And it's what I have and can afford.

While I have it, I'll continue to try make it work.

Why be so down?

"And it's what I have and can afford."

I know how that goes. I hope it gives you years of trouble-free service.
