Geese and a 747.
I would have figured the flock of geese would have been no where near a 747 as it was coming into land. I guess they were both maintining the required 1000 ft separation!

I can see why there is a problem with geese getting sucked into jet engines...very clear picture...well exposed...can even see the different colours from this distance on the Canada Geese.

Very nice capture of the 747-400F,

It was canadian geese that took down the US Airways flight that landed in the hudson. The can be a problem close to major airports.

Thanks Les and ST. I know what you mean about aircraft encountering birds. In and around CVG, there are Canadian Geese a plenty. At the airport itself, there are plenty of hawks as well.

Re. the technical quality of the image, got to give credit to the Nikkor 70-200 f2.8. It's a pricey lens, but worth the money!

Pity the poor birds :) but great shot!

When did you take this photo? I thought Kallita went out of business a year or two ago. Maybe they only left DFW.

shoturtle Oct 4, 2010 2:18 PM

Kallita was brought partly by Lufthansa. That gave them a cash infusion. So they are still in business.

Streets & ST: According to Kallita's web site they are 100% owned by Conrad Kallita, hence their call sign "Connie". Here is a link to it: Click on the link on that page that is titled "About us".

I know it is not, they are partly own by Lufthansa.
