My Triumph TR-2

These were copied from slides made in April, 1959. This car was my pride and joy while working as a tech-rep at Torrejon Air Base. It served me well until I was overserved at a great party in Madrid. A year later I married a gal from Texas with a TR-3. I still have the gal.

Beautiful little TR..always liked the slope down doors...you have had some interesting cars over the years...I recall your pix of your Mustang.

I was moving through the set and then came the aftermath. Man that little guy did not do too well. Glad you made it out and went on to other fine things! It really was a nice looking car, great lines. I have never sat in one how were the seats?

I had a brand-new Triumph Spitfire and, oddly enough, it wound up in pretty much the same condition... for the very same reason - over-lubricated driver.

The seats in the TR-2 were slightly better than your average wooden kitchen chair. Did you notice the lack of whiplash protection? I personally experienced that feature while wadding the car up----at the same time I was enhancing my smile with the steering wheel.

My Spitfire was a '77 and made it clear to '79. I missed a turn attempting to evade the base police and hit a foot-high curb... and a fire hydrant. That was all she wrote. Had I made that corner, they would have never caught me. But, radios are faster than the car. San Diego police would have been waiting for me at the gate. Worst I got was not being allowed to drive on base for a year (big deal - I was only there for 3 months - and a small fine. :) Now, I don't think I would have gotten off so lightly.
