I suppose in reality this is analagous to the question: "Will I buy a cheap second-hand BMW or top of the line Hyundai Grandeur?".

If money was not an issue, I'd probably go for a Manfrotto 055 or similar.

I am using a Canon 20D, usually with a 24-70mm f2.8 L series lens attached. Total weight: about 1700g though front heavy. I want to do more macro work, for which I have a Tamron 90mm true macro lens that is considerably lighter than the 24-70.

The LUXi F on the face of it has what I need: stability, good range (19cm to 161cm), good 4-way head with levels, QR plate.

Any reasonI wouldn't go for this (and pocket the change)?
