G'day P O L
This is a hard one to answer "off the cuff" as there are many things we don't know about your style of photography However, there are several universal 'answers' the tripod when its legs are extended 'should' ... 1- be about as tall as you, so that with the camera attached, you are not bending down to see the image 2- not 'wobble' or 'vibrate' when you tap/touch the top of the tripod [ie: in the wind you won't get wind vibration] 3- not have too many joins in the legs [2-joins = 3-sections is common, 3-joins = 4-sections is less common but is smaller to store away] 4- have an easy to use 'tilt & swivel' head that allows both the 360 degree movement AND a 90deg swivel to permit vertical / portrait-style images to be easily taken 5- last for 3-4 yrs with weekly use ... double that for occasional use The price of tripods varies a lot - I have seen very well made tripods selling for $150, I have bought tripods for between $200 & $400 ... my tripods last about 18 months before they are replaced as I am a terror with them!! Others on the list may like to add other information Regards, Phil
