Default Monopod ??

What do you guys recomend in the way of a light monopod that is not too long (19-21in) when collapsed and does not weight too much. I am using it with a digital point and shoot camera. Thanks

light, compact, and stiff. 2 names come to mind: bogen/menfrotto and gitzo (which are sister companies).

then you need a head to attach it ti the mpod.

we have choices here Aluminum or $$$composite$$$

aluminum will take the relatively light, compact and stiff. the tube diameter will be larger to meet that then carbon(composite). the manfrotto model 680 list price $61US

they make a carbon one that lists at $207

gitzo goes up from there

in my eye these are the best bang for the $

Fer monopods we went with the Manfrotto 681 and the 234rc head.
Combined they are 29 3/4 inches colapsed, 66 inches extended.

Weigh a couple of pounds, I guess, don't have a scale that can go that low.

I partially extend it and use it as a walking stick when not trying to take pictures.
Found I prefer either a full tripod or a handy rock or tree to steady the camera.
