Does anybody make one?

Idon't needa tilt-swivel head or a ball head.

I would just like a system that I can break down quickly, that I can use for sports, but that I can quickly remove the camera from to catch the occasional soaring hawk.

I don't need it to be really sturdy, but tall would be nice. I have a dSLR, but no lenses with tripod mounting rings (But I can dream, can't I?), and I would also like to use it occasionally with a digital camcorder.

Anyone have any ideas?

I bought a Vanguard MP-15 off ebay. It has "Quickshoe" attachment that screws into the tripod hole on the camera. Then it attaches to the monopod with a quick release lever. I think I paid about $25.00 when I bought mine a few years back. There is a used one on eBay now for $10.00 plus $10.00 S&H. Also... there are some new ones for around $28.00. Do a search for "Vanguard MP-15"

Doesn't all Bogen monopods come with quick release plate? ;)
-> at least my old 3218 does - The quick release plate screw to the bottom of the camera (or lens) and will also fit most RC2 enabled Manfrotto tripods:

I would go with a Manfrotto, mine is a 680B. Like most Manfrotto's the head is not included, you have to buy that as well, but that way you get the head that works for you. Do not get the 3229 that they recommend. Get a tripod ball head that will meet your needs.

I probably am going to have to buy another as my son, the tripod king, has discovered mine and I probably wont get it back.

I picked up a Manfrotto 3299.

This is great! I can't believe I haven't gotten one of these before.

I've used it on one of my tripods, and it works well. Now I can shop around for the monopod.

Thanks everybody.
