Hi all! New member here... hoping someone has experienced my issue before... or actually I hope you haven't for your sake lol.

I just recieved my new tripod. Slik U212 DLX w/ quick release. I have a Canon Rebel XTi.

If I tighten the Quick release "Knob" into the bottom of my camera so it is "snug" on the camera body... when I try and mount it to the TriPod... the tripod will not "grab" the quick release knob.... I can just pull the camera off. Almost seems like the knob is not going deep enough into the tripod.

The only way I can get the tripod to secure the knob is to putthe knob"loosely" in to the camera body were it can be "jiggled" around. When I lock the knob it pulls the camera body down tight to the tripod... but when I unlock it and remove the camera the quick release on the bottom is loose.

Any ideas?

I'm don't know anything about the Silk tripods. But if I had a problem with a new tripod I would call the dealer and have him walk me through it. Sorry I could not be more help.
