Following a fair amount of research it seems moust, out there, when given a choice will carry as monopod and a tabletop tripod.

Who knows of a tabletop tripod sturdy enough to handle the A700 with a vertical grip in a vertical position? (with a little extension to it)

Look at this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...d_10_Red_.html

Thanks - Ponz

It depends, of course, on which lens would be in use. The A700 weighs 24 0z. (690g) Camera Body Only. The grip adds another 10 oz. That's 2+ lbs w/out lens. The 18~70/3.5-5.6 lens brings this up another 1/2 lb.

That said, the length of the lens will have an effect on the overall set-up, particularly the center of gravity. Bogen's 3007 or 709 might do and they're available with optional heads and extenders. The heavier-duty Joby Gorillapod would also do.

My favourite may not be yours...

I have a Leica tabletop tripod. There are/were 2 ball heads. I have the large one (about 3 1/2 inches.)

Very sturdy.

Hard to find.
