I have a 5dII and want to order a tripod. I was told by BH Photo Video that the Gitzo 1541 Mountaineer would hold the camera and a 100-400 lens.
When I read through Gitzo they say it holds up to a 200mm lens. But, based on weight specs it should work. Any help, information would be appreciated as I would really like to order today to have for Christmas....thanks. |

I've moved your thread down to our Tripods and Heads Forum, where you may have a better chance at finding suggestions.

Longer lenses (that 400mm definitely is) are not only heavier, but they also influence the gravity point (it shifts) - that is probably the reason why Gitzo only recommends lenses up to 200mm.
Here is some more info about tripod weight: http://vesnakozelj.com/photography/e...amera-tripod-2 |
