Tripod Identification?

I picked up a used tripod at a garage sale yesterday - $3.00. It seems to be made of aluminium, very sturdy, 3 section legs, and what I like about it is the center post that holds the panhead rotates down to horizontal. It also has a secondary camera plate. It does not have a removable camera plate on the panhead, however, so it must be of an older vintage. The only identification I can find on it is "Made in Japan". I am posting some pictures of it, maybe someone can identify the maker?

I did not extend the legs fully in the photos.

Thanks for any help.

Better late than never - I have the identical tripod which I just dug out of a cabinet while searching for another tripod - it is marked Goldcrest on the head, and 993LS around the crank. If Goldcrest was just an importer/marketer, these may have been sold under more than one name.
