I have a Manfrotto 190XPROB and I'm loving it. It's no carbon fibre that's for sure, but it's light enough for me to carry around (and I'm no athlete to say the least). Very sturdy imo. I paid $180 for the legs, and bought a nice ball head for $80. I'm sure there are nicer around, but the price was right in my range. I think I'll be having that for 20 years or more myself, it's build is very solid.
