Santa has determined I need a travel tripod that doesn't cost more than $125 for legs and head. In my initial research, one of his elves suggested the Slik 500DX. It's actually $130 at B&H. Is there a better choice in this price range? thanx in advance for your help and patience.

Don't know any of the tripods mentioned but.
Might want to try to catch any sales that happen in the pre/post boxing day/week sales that seem to happen around that time of year.

Have you considered a monopod?? I just purchased one of these-
http://www.feisol.net/feisol-monopod...rapid-p-7.html Carbon Fiber, nicely made- holds 15 lbs, weighs .79 lbs (yes, less than a pound) closed height 21" max height 66". I'm very happy with using a monopod. Wes |
