I have decided on the 6000fd. I haven't purchased it yet. I want to be sure ofwhat I want to purchase with it. One thing I have a concern of is the tripod. What sort of tripod can I purchase and use with this camera? I definitely would like to use one. Please someone help me on this and possibly provide a link, thanks!

The price range for tripods goes from about $20 up to several hundred dollars, depending on how sophisticated you want to get. The more expensive ones are built from a very durable lightweight material. You can get them with level adjustments and special pan heads. You probably would want to consider a little bit heavier tripod than the little lightweight $20 ones. I saw one at Best Buy for about $50 that looked like it would do a good job for a camera like the S6000fd. Some tripods are rated by how much weight they can support. Just make sure you get one that is sturdy enough for the weight of the camera. Otherwise, the tripod isn't going to do you very much good.

Other than that, the decision is yours. It has a standard tripod socket that will accommodate any standard tripod. So your challenge is to find one that you will like working with. Otherwise, it was just sit in the closet.

Thanks for responding to my question. From what you posted I supposedly could use any tripod. Which sounds great because then I could pick a really good sturdy one. However when I was reading the dcresourse review it mentioned a plastic tripod mount. I was then under the impression that the tripod would have to be plastic.:?I looked up plastic tripods and was really dissapointed! So assuming you are correct, unless someone comes along and sais otherwise, I can use anytripod. On that note, whatsort of tripod doI look for? Are there specific ones made just for digicams? My list of wants would be easy to remove camera, camera could be swiveled to pointin virtually any direction and locked into place, I could use it standing up (I'm pretty tall, nearly 6ft), and of course it must be sturdy. I apologize if I sound like I am repeating myself. I am new to this, very new. I have no clue what to look for when looking at various tripods. Do the mount heads come in various sizes? Also I would like to buy online. When I purchase the camera I would like to buy all the needed supplies with it. I have been looking at the Adorama site. They have a lot of tripods! Very overwhelming to someone who has no clue!

Thanks again for all the help!

When they mention a plastic tripod socket, they are referring to the material that the threaded socket is made from. Plastic tripod mounts are not as durable. It is easy to strip the threads so that you cannot mount the camera on the tripod anymore. So you have to be more careful. It does not refer to the type of tripod that can be used. A plastic tripod mount will accommodate any tripod as long as the thread sizes are the same. And I don't think that is anything you have to be concerned about.
