Ciggie,
Yah, just try the lowest shutter speed that works.
Try 1/250th, 1/500th or 1/1000th.

Most people can "handhold" a shot down to about 1/60th a second reliably.

Make sure your holding the camera correctly, one hand cupping under lens should be the main support, whereas the other hand just steadies it a bit while the finger slowly squeezes the trigger.
