Default Grease ?

I wonder if there is a kind of grease specifically for ball head ?
I use "white grease" ( the kind for automotive use ) , graphite grease is smoother but a bit dirty for fingers sometimes.
( in my case , it's metal on metal contact surfaces)

neither Arca-Swiss or Acratech require or even suggest the use of any lubricant. the surfaces on both of these sockets are of a self lubricating material. any additional lubricant can cause foreign material to collect and stick on th ball surface and work into the socket. that would then cause dragging and scoring of the bearing surfaces. and in a worse case seizing of the assembly.

contact the manfrotto distributer if you are having any issues with your ball assy.
i think there is a nylon type part in the socket that acts as the bearing in a manfrotto ball. i don't believe its just metal to metal.
