i have a digital rebel and i was looking for a decent and affordable mini tripod to help me take pictures of jewelry at a close up so they can be posted on ebay.

Take a look : (seach for table tripod)

Most of them should be ok for your needs if you plan horizontal shots. If you plan vertical shots (pointing down) , I would go for a standard tripod (not table tripod)that allows you to attach the camera "inside" the tripod (ie the center column inversed) , that way offer much more stability.
