Dynatran are selling a lot over on e-bay for quite a discount from the amvona.com website. Does anyone know if those tripods are sturdy and worth the $$?
I tried a $90 tripod from Best Buy and found it could not hold he head tilted up with my D70 + 300mm lenses. So I started lookinging and found the Dynatran.

since you and i have never seen, handled this particular brand what is the return policy on this in case it doesn't quite make the cut. its kind of tough to check it out in 2 dimensions. i know of no dealers even around the NYC area.

I don't know about the tripods but I just won some c-stand kits. I have been trying to negotiate on shipping which I think is excessive, but haven't heard from Amvona for several days. I'll let you know what I think about the c-stands when I recieve them....also, the site for Dynatran appears to be under construction.

Amvona is the BEST !!
Super High Quality products. Excellent customer service.
Fast Shipping. Superior Value. Tripods built rock solid.
I have done repeated business with Amvona and could not be more satisfied.
I will be buying from them again.
One of the MOST HIGHLY RATED SELLERS ON EBAY.
They have a 99.8 percent customer satisfaction rating.
I'll repeat that.......99.8 percent satisfaction.

afer looking over their stuff its basically manfrotto knockoffs without the light weight or the overall quality and backing.

they are:

1)heavy as lead

2)rather large folded up

3) you will learn that the pistol grip "ball" head is not the way to go but is trick looking and fun for a little bit.

these are inexpensive. and that nifty buy 2 get one free is giving me a uneasy feeling on overall quality. but if you don't mind carrying around almost 3 ft of drainpipe that weighs like one toothere they are

its a relatively inexpensive way of learning what you really want in a tripod

by the way best buy was not a place to look at tripods. i can see why these dynatrans look good after going there.

i'm a believer in trying to get it right with the most versatile one i can find. its an extension of you and your camera. you should look at it as if your choosing one too.

i have a feeling that in a while the dynatran will probably become what i call a 3 legged hangar that will take up room in your closet instead of being used. i shoot about 30-40% of the tripod as it is now. so carrying it around has become common for me. i put an investment in mine so even if it doesn't work out formeit will sell in a heartbeat and i'll get a reasonable return. i put my 2 year old manfrotto 3021Pro up for sale at another site and it sold in about 20 minutes flat. i somehow feel that a dynatran might take slightly longer.

a dynatran cannot do this

I just received my Dynatran AT-858CL tripod purchased from ebay. For $52 shipped, it certainly is an excellent buy. Very sturdy indeed...a bit heavy though...about 7 to 8 lbs. Construction looks and feels very solid. Metal tripod head and quick release plate. Comes with a carrying bag as well. I'll post some pics when I get home.

on such "reviews"- i can stay up all night and post these gleaming bits of poetry about my business site too. do about 10-15 of them in about 30 minutes and the bait is out. build up my reputation w/o selling 1 thing. remember the web is the wild west ther is no verification so. without contact info it doesn't carry any weight and believe me this is not just talking about this particular product. look at some of the ratings the dealers get and turn out to be dirt bag outfits. this is manipulitive and misleading. show that its worth it with facts and comparisons that are not colored with bias. thats how you build confidence.

Hmmm....seems like if a tripod doesn't cost $400, it's no good...no matter what other people say about the tripod itself. Nothing pleases everyone.
