Hi

Iv just purchased the ULTRA-MAXi-SFtripod, following the sales pitch from the chap at the London Camera Echange.

I explained that I wanted to do some night time scene shots, for example (Brighton Pier by night),and that id probably be using it for other general photography as well.

I also explained that I would prefer a nice compact light tripod.

I told him the camera I am using, the Sony H1.

Iv not used the tripod yet, but can anyone let me know if iv madethe right choice?

I borrowed a friends tripod and took someshots of Brighton seafront by night, and I needed a 6 second exposure. His tripod was lighter than my new MAXI tripod, and the results were fine

Thanks

Shane

I think I just answered my own question

Just been in the back garden:

Set the camera up to zoom in tosveral houses that arehardly even visible in the darkeness.

Amazing!!... got a really sharp shot with an exposure of 11 seconds.

The H1 saw more than I did :-)

I made the right choice.

Well, It wasn't long before I realized my mistake.

I tried the tripod in windy conditions on friday, and the thing just wasn't as stable as expected, then after reading some more info online, iv realized that this tripod was really only for more compact cameras than mine, plus not so good for long exposures in anything other than still conditions.

This morning I got my refund and then headed for Jessops, and to my excitement I found that they sell the superior Velbon Ultra Luxi F,and it was £10 cheaper than the lesser model I had purchased from the London Camera Exchange!!!!

What a result
