Hello, my name is Gloria and I'm in the cold and snowy state of PA moved from Canada seven years ago, I should be used to snow... but I'm not.

I'm looking to get a new lens. Have a Nikon D5000 with an 18-105mm but doing some travel in May and looking for distance but don't want to have to travel with 2 lenses. Does anyone have experience with the new Tamron 18-270 PZD? I've been told different things on switching to 3rd party lenses but a Nikon would be too costly for me right now.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hey Gloria. Welcome to Steve's.

Your best bet would be to ask your question about the Tamron in the Nikon Lenses Forum using a thread title mentioning it, so that some of our Nikon users would be more likely to see it and respond with comments about it.

I don't know if anyone here has tried the new PZD version of that lens, but they may have found comments and reviews for it that could help out.
