Hello-

I am another long term poster on this forum. I now have over 6,800 posts made on this Forum in a very sincere attempt to help other fellow photographers.

A bit about myself: I am a professional photographer and a profesional digital cama instructor who sails the seven seas. I do digital camera seminars and workshop on cruise ships. I work for many cruise lines. However, in the last few years, I have focused on Holland-America Line, Celebrity, and Princess Cruises.

My husband I usually travel 9 to 11 months each year giving our seminars and workshops. We do both precisely targeted DSLR workshops as well as a variety of other workshops targeted at both the Beginning and Intermediate photographers. Our seminars and workshops are copyrighted and called the "Digital Cameras Made Really Easy" series.

So if you see me very active for 2 weeks to a month, and then I am suddenly gone from the Forum, please know that I am just out working, and thoroughly enjoying it. In fact we will leaveon 04/26 for three months in Europe, the Caribbean, and Alaska.

WoW, what a great gig you two have going on. I just started reading through these topics when I saw your story.

So in other words your retired, you get to take free cruises that last 9 to 11 months, discuss photography with likeminded people, Take beautiful photo,s at exotic locations then go back to Oregon for a time out. Oh man that lifestyle must really suck.

We (my wife & I) have a special liking with Holland American. We got married on the Nordam in Juneau many years ago. What a great time. They really accomadeted us well.

Try to enjoy your next work season. I know it can be very hard but somehow I think you two will manage. Great story.

Thanks, Mike-

It was good to learn your story as well. Yes, we have a great retirement gig, but it is not cost free. We have to pay our agent, our transportation to and from the cruises, and of course our on board charges, and gratuities.

We spent over 10 yearsputting together the whole package. It was a lot of work, but it paid off, as this is our 12th year of lecturing. Saturday we leave home to begin our 586th cruise.

Thanks a lot, Steve-

But, tomorrow (04/26) we head back to work providing digital camera instruction on cruise ships once again. We will be gone until 07/26, when we will be home again for a little less than a month.

BTW, based on your latest review of the Panasonic LZ-8, I went ahead and ordered one so that it catches up with us in one of our ports of call. It looks to be an ideal newbie camera. I want to show the camera and the photos it produces in our classes.

See you all in late July.
