I want a simple easy to use camera to take to Europe and I was wondering if anyone can recomend one for me. I have never own a digital camera so I need something that is really simple to use. I don'tneed the bells and whistles. I also want something compact and not too bulky. The maximum amount that I'm willing to spend is $200.
Thanks |

Canon A540. People here have said theyve seen it below $200 lately. It's fast, easy to use, takes great pics, compact, and has a large LCD.

I also go with Canon. The A430 is cheaper than the A540. It is a 4 megapixel vs. A540's 6 MP, but it will print out excellent standard 4X6 pictures, probably good up to 8X11 size. It is slightly wider but not as tall as the A540, with comparable zoom lens (less wide but more tele than the A540). The A540 has higher ISO (light sensitivity) - 800 vs. 400 in A430,and can take decent pictures at dimmer light. The optical quality of the A540 lens may be better. The A430 also uses AA batteries and SD memory card like the A540 - this is the selling point ofthe Canon A series: compatibility with popular components which are widely available and not expensive.

Can the A540 fit in a pocket that easily? I've been comparing it to the Sony W series (and the A630.)

The A540 is much smaller than the A630, and yes it easily fits into a small jacket pocket.
