Hi everyone,

I'm still searching for a camera to replace my old P&S Fuji Finepix 6800 Zoom. Served me well for 5 years, but getting old. Reading many reviews, I get conflicted over which cam to buy. I'd like to ask your opinions on the Panasonic LX2 vs. the FX50.

- 10 MP
- 4x zoom
- 13MB internal memory
- focal length F2.8-F4.9 (I really don't know how this
helps the camera!)
- up to ISO 1600
- RAW (which is irrelevant to me)
- pop-up flash which apparently helps reduce red-eye from
being a big problem
- manual controls (?)

- 7 MP
- 3.6x zoom
- 16MB card included
- focal length F2.8-F5.6
- up to ISO 1250
- not-so-manual controls (from what I've been reading)

Both have Image Stabilization.

Will there be any difference in 'real world' pics taken by both cameras? I'm attracted to the LX2 but don't like the separate lens cap and it is the more expensive of the two. If there isn't any difference in picture quality, I might as well save money and get the FX50!

The kind of photos I'll be taking:
- Interiors; daytime & night time (with lights on)
- Exteriors of buildings; daytime and night time>with a
- Group pics; day & night, outside
- Scenery; daytime & night time>with tripod

My daytime shots are usually ok; my night time shots worry me: if my subjects are more than 10' away, the pic is badly lit. My solution, given the limits of a compact camera, is to make my friends huddle closer together and stand underneath a streetlamp!

I'm an amateur at this so please forgive my ignorance! Please tell me which camera is better for me.
