I've been looking for a "beach-going" camera for quite a while now and think that either the Optio W20 or the Olympus 720SW might be just what I've been looking for.
I will not be going swimming with the camera and I don't scuba dive, but I will be taking pictures on the beach and the camera will be exposed to sand and might get splashed on or sprayed on. Which of the two is the better one in terms of picture quality and features? TIA Jana |

Jana-
These two cameras are pretty much alike in terms of beach use. However, in reading the reviews (www.megapixel.net has reviewed the Olympus, while www.thinkcamera.com has reviewed the Pentax) you will find that the Olympus is more of a fully automated camera. The Pentax offers more optional choices. They are both 7+mp cameras. They both have no viewfinders, and rely on the LCD for framing your photos. It appears that either would meet your rather realistic needs for a family snapshooter. MT/Sarah |

Great feedback. Thank you for the links. I've been leaning toward the Olympus and after reading the different reviews I think I'll go with the Olympus.
