Glad to hear you made a decision David, the LC1 is a good camera, but very expensive. I have read a lot of good things about the Panasonic/Leica twins, excellent image quality. I think the fact that your old camera was covered up to the level it was is the only economical way to own one of these, I would never buy one full-price but $400 is great (after all, with that many exposures we can assume that you already got your money's worth from the Sony).

Have fun with the new toy.

I think you did the right thing, work out what you wanted before buying into something.
The pana-lc1 gets good reviews from its users, so I think you'l be happy with it.

I have a theory about shutter life, and if I am right(I think I is) it will never get better in each camera class. It is part of the planned obsolence, if they don't get you to upgrade for features eventually your existing camera packs it in any you have to buy again anyway. All part of keeping the sales and profits up.
