Hi. I am about to purchase a digital SLR camera but am having trouble deciding which to choose so would like to hear people's opinions on these cameras. I do not have existing lenses to use so this is not a consideration.

Both are very good cameras. However, remember your buying into a system, and I believe Nikon is the better choice between the two. Nikon has better high ISO performance and a wide variety of 1st and 3rd party lenses available in the new and used market. Olympus uses a smaller sensor (hence the low light performance) and, although the lenses they have are of excellent quality, they are not readily available and extremely expensive. They also have very little 3rd party support. Nikon also has several DSLR cameras in their stable offering many upgrade options if that's where your future heads.

Either way, you can't really go wrong.
