thanks tmoreau,
i do prefer the 5d over the 7d just for size and weight alone although i actually like all the knobs and buttons outside the 7d tho i can see mehaving to change back to default out of frustration!! but i think the 5d is what i want. Quote:
jim, i just can't really handle the size of the 7d. i called a local baton rouge camera shop and no they don't have it and the ritz there as well. NOPE. Quote:
thanks |

My best guess is for a June launch of at least one model, with at least one more coming later in the Summer. That's only an educated guess, based on what I've read about reports made to Analysts, etc. I think at least one of them will likely be a 10 Megapixel camera (since the Nikon D200 is a 10 Megapixel model using a Sony sensor, and Pentax has also announced a 10 Megapixel Model). Nikon and Pentax use Sony sensors in most of their DSLR offerings. The new Sony DSLR models will be able to use Maxxum lenses. If you haven't seen the latest press release yet, Sony has announced a name for it's new DSLR Line: http://www.steves-digicams.com/diginews.html#sony_alpha There are now multiple "teaser" web sites setup for different markets. Some have flash presentations and some are relatively simple. Here are a few of them: http://www.sony.co.jp/alpha http://www.sony.co.kr/dslr/ http://www.sony.net/Products/dslr/top.html http://www.learningcenter.sony.us/as...cameras/alpha/ As for verifying stock, call them and ask. They've got one part number for the U.S. kits and another part number for the import kits. Here is the listing for the U.S. Kit. http://www.digitalfotoclub.com/produ...ith-18-70-zoom Cameta Auctions on Ebay is a reputable vendor. I don't know how many they've got left (they only had one listing for a 5D when I looked earlier today). |

jim,
i was just explaining to my husband the situation with the 5d and he said that he had already told our son-in-law to look for the camera as he was planning to get it for my birthday and anniversary next month!!!:GSo..... i might see about the $649 with the lens. is that a decent lens? Maxxum DT 18-70/3.5-5.6 zoom. i guess at this point it doesn't really matter if i can just get the camera. the one on ebay doesn't include a lens and it's at 595.00 + $20 shipping. what to do, what to do................................................ ..... darlene |

The kit lenses are nothing to get excited about (and that definitely includes the Canon kit lens, too).
But, the KM 18-70mm f/3.5-5.6 is relatively small and light and gives you a decent focal range. You'll want something other than a prime outdoors and it's worth what they're getting for it in the kits. For low light use, get yourself a 50mm f/1.4 or 50mm f/1.7. The 50mm f/1.7 can be found for under $100 if you're a patient shopper. |
