I need help to choose my next camera.I´ll use it for landscape shooting, so most important for me is the image quality and definition.Need to know wich is the best between Sony H2, Canon S2 IS, Panasonic FZ7 or FZ20 , doesn´t mind the MP.
better will be if you can rank those cameras. Thanks for your help.Bye |

Hi Beef,
for landscape photos, I would want at least a 28mm equivalent wide angle, which none of those 12x ultrazooms have ... |

If landscape photoraphy is your main goal, none of the superzoom cameras you mention are really ideal. Landscape photography demands a wide angle, at least 28mm which was mentioned earlier. It is usually easier to move closer to an object than it is to move further away. All of the camera's you mention start around 35mm on the wide end.

How about the proven world class Sony H1 (or H2 / H5 if budget allows) + the Sony VCL-DH0758 wide angle lens ?
The VCL-DH0758 takes the H1-2-5s wide angle down to 25.2mm |

For pure landscapes Kodak P880 would have 24mm wide angle but that camera has very short tele (140mm, ~similar to those in ordinary compacts) and lacks stabilization meaning it's not good for lower light landscapes and sunsets so I would recommend KonicaMinolta A200. 28-200mm is very usefull range for landscapes and general nature photography and stabilization helps more in low light lanscapes/sunsets than Fuji S9000's watercolor processed high ISO which advantage is still lowered by one stop (=ISO step) dimmer tele end of its lens.

When landscapes are main targets using wide converter would be needle in the a*s while that long tele is useless. Plain "zoom" numbers tell as much about usefullness and real features than Dubyas speeches about reality. |

Sorry, my mistake, when i say landscape i mean nature too, no just landscape , example birds photos, animals, etc, thats why i like big zoom cameras
