I am also in the market and have narrowed the choice down to Pana fz7 and Sony H5. New review of the H5 at:
http://www.dcresource.com/index.shtml Review of fz7 also there. Price of fz7 ($370 at Costco)makes itvery attractive. |

I smell a troll ![]() Pop into any decent Sony forum (see the one at Dpreview for example) and you will see endless posts showing the incredible pictures capable by this little camera. As to proprietary sticks, buying a $300-$400 camera and worring over spending a little extra on a memory stick seems a little weird... I bought the H1 when it first came out before it was even heard of in most camera stores in the Uk for over £400 thats nearly $750 and spent another £45 on a 512mb stick. I can now buy a 1gb stick for £25 in the new Duo format that also fits my PSP.. A 1gb SD card would set me back around £18 , a £7 difference about the price of a meal in Burger King.. After all those who used cameras with Xd cards, or Microdrives or compact flash cards can equally complain about the fact that more and more cameras are using SD cards nowadays but they don't bitch and moan about it so much and make it into some kind of personal crusade. Whats the betting in a couple of years time, cameras will be using the mini or micro sd cards and then we can all complain about the old normal sized sd cards being no longer in use. And that will give you something else to whine about .. |

Beef,
what is your budget? Does your nature photography include landscapes (paisajes) ? If you want the best quality and budget allows I would advise you to buy a DSLR. |

Out of the cameras you mention I would choose the S3 over the FZ7; the FZ7 Panasonic sensor is noisier at high ISO and I like the Canon's swivel LCD.

Well, with Sony you have to buy their proprietary memory sticks...
The H2 has that clear disadvantage ... |
