Hi, I'm new to the forum but not to the website. I have a Nikon Coolpix 5700 and sometimes feel it is way too advanced for me but it was a gift so....Now my 17 year old son wants his own digital camera. He is very much into his car, ( a 2005 VW GTI) which he just took to Waterfest in Englishtown NJ. This is a VW enthusiast event held every year. Now he wants to take pics of his car, etc. He is nagging for his own camera and I'm not sure which one would be a good choice for him. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. He doesn't really know much about cameras but wants to learn. Thanks

Asolid choice is always the Canon A-400 series, I think they are up to the A-430 now and cameras like the Kodak C-330 or Z-760. You often see them priced very low on ebay. MT |
Thank you.....I'll check those out!

For photographing cars a wide angle will be far more useful than a long telephoto, so I'd look for a camera witha 28mm at the wide end. If manual controls or an optical viewfinder are not important to him then a Panasonic FX50 looks good.
Scond hand is a good way to go too, the Canon S50 and S70 both had zooms which went down to 28mm |
Why don't you let the fella do his own research, raise his own money, and buy the camera he needs?
This site and a couple of others had the info I needed to make a decision within one day. ...? |
